INSTALLATION CATALOGUE designed by Piotr Szewczyk (pdf) FLYER (pdf) My installation "Reisefieber/Polska" was presented in Rondo Sztuki Gallery in Katowice until 20.09.2008. Due to a non-authorized change of the work by the gallery organizers I decided to withdraw my installation from the exhibition on the 20.09.2008. Text for the exhibition: Basicly my installations describe the state of travelling, changing the places, making myself comfortable, framing the space, they are about the differnet geographical places: in the South Korea it was a prepondarance of whiteness and colourful "dots" (emptyness is as important as fullness). In Armenia it was a delicate shine of Orient (golden foil, reach oilpaintings and fabrics). When you spread the fabric or the carpet among the mountains and stone buildings of strong sunlighted and dry climated Caucasia - immediately you create your "own" space. And what about Poland? For me, partly, Poland is an apple, geographicaly it almost even has an apple shape. Poland smells like apples, I realize it entering groceries. In Germany apples do not smell...They are only red or green balls, just so. If we travel so often, so far, I'm wondering what is here, at this place, in Poland. I used the roots which come from my grandparents birth place as a material fillig the yurt construction. Partly I left the earth on them and built an organic form of circle. Materials from which the instalations are built are very important: in "Shelters" it was a felt shipped from the oldest hutsulian house, in "Korean Winter Yurt" it was a korean hanji paper, in "Reisefieber/Polska" there were the roots from ecological orchards.
